FROM THE PASTOR...

Praying for Revival

We are praying for revival at St. Paul’s.

The leaders of St. Paul’s are now fasting and praying for 40 days, seeking God and asking Him to send revival upon us. The congregation will be asked to fast and pray for 21 days, beginning March 14, to seek God and ask for revival. But fasting and prayer will accomplish little unless we come to the place of brokenness in our lives, when we say, “Lord, I have not measured up to Your standard of love; I have not lived a holy life; but I am willing to change. Please, Lord, change me.”

Revival means “to live again.” Maybe you feel something is missing in your life, that your life is off-balance. Maybe you long for a closer walk with the Lord. If so, God has placed within you a hunger and thirst for Himself. You are poised for revival!

Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

The word life (zoe) in the Greek means “the absolute fullness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God … life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed…” (Strong’s)

Jesus came to earth for this very purpose: to give us the absolute fullness of life, God’s life, a life devoted to Him, and Jesus came to give us this life in abundance, with wonderful intensity, not our common day-to-day existence, but a life superior to anything else we have ever experienced - it is life with Him!

Do you want this God-life?

God loves with a great love the man whose heart is bursting with a passion for the IMPOSSIBLE. - William Booth

What is the seeming “impossible” for us?

  • That God would visit St. Paul’s mightily, powerfully, wonderfully.
  • That the Holy Spirit would awaken our hearts, purify our lives, produce miracles and manifestations of His Presence.

God loves it when we believe Him to perform what is humanly impossible. God is honored and He honors that kind of faith.

I pray for that you would hunger for more of Him. I pray that you would receive an outpouring of His Spirit. I pray that you would know, experience, feel the God-life that He wants you to have.

In Him,
Pastor Steve

Thank you…

Dear St. Paul’s Family, Thank you all so much for everything you have done during the time Renae was in the hospital and since she has been home recuperating. We can never t hank you enough for all the prayers, calls, visits, encouragement and concern; or for the meals, the flowers and the love offering. We have only been able to make it through this ordeal through the love and protection of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; the help and love of our own family and friends; and the love and support of such a wonderful church family. Thank you!
Love, Renae and Kenny Danner
• To St. Paul’s Family, With ‘Thanks’ and deep appreciation for the beautiful poinsettia we so much enjoyed during Christmas! Thank you so much for all the lovely cards, calls, visits, singing, gifts, etc. Everything and everyone are special to us. God Bless.
With love and gratitude, Jo Anne and John Beard

• Thank You-The family of John Junior Beard acknowledges with grateful appreciation your kind expression of sympathy.
• Dear Members of St. Paul’s, Thank you for the wonderful meal served to our family after Junior’s funeral. As always your love and support shines through in all that you do! What a blessing for Jo Anne to be part of such a special church family. Again, thank you for the delicious, comforting meal.
Sincerely, Gary, Jill and Drew Beard.
• Thanks to the Men's Brotherhood for the wonderful Valentine's Dinner.  What a treat to all who attended with the delicious meal, fine fellowship and great entertainment!  Special thanks to Danny Stillwell, Allen Arrowood, Sandy Stillwell, Carl Jenkins, and, of course, our Singers and Stringers.

• February 23 was a glorious day at Newton Corner Table!  Our women, under the supervision of Keirsten and Maggie, provided a heart-warming meal of soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and banana pudding to approximately 135 patrons of the Corner Table.  Praise God for giving our group the opportunity to share the gifts he has given us with others.

•Dear Nancy and St. Paul's Church, Thank you so much for the generous donation to Holy Trinity's Handbell program. We are over-whelmed by your generosity! This -particular group of gifted "ding-a-lings" so enjoys the sharing of their time and talent, both to God's glory and in our community. We plan to use your contribution for the purchase of fabric with which table covers will be made by another HT handbell ringer. Again, thanks! God's peace to you all, Jo Carol Thomason & Chapel Ringers of HTLC.

MISSIONS

By: Mary Woods

Scott & SaraBeth Hill   -   Alaska  - SEND International
Matthew, Lydia, Kara, Caleb
We are here in Petersburg, AK safe and sound.  We thank you for praying.  God truly worked a miracle and showed us once again HE IS IN CONTROL!   We are settled in a house temporarily till another family comes back in May.  Please pray for decisions to be made.  It has been 3 yrs. since we have been here and things needing attention built up.  Right now, things are stable at KRSA and operating again but he has spent a lot of time on long term solutions.  We are working to get an FM station put on the air locally.  There is no lack of work to do, and God has given us the ability to do it.  A local Church here has started an AWANA  Club, which means our children and SaraBeth can continue in it.  Home schooling also takes time.  We appreciate your faithful partnership with us in this ministry and thank you for remembering to pray.

Mark & Natasha Palmer   -   Central Asia  - Campus Crusade for Christ, Intern'l
Emily, Jessica, Elizabeth
The months of Nov. and Dec. were special times for our team.  We've had chance to share at many Universities and used Thanksgiving as a way to share since many had never celebrated this holiday.  After morning meetings our team encouraged each other and became closer as we put God FIRST.  Pray for health for our family and team.  Kyrgyzstan continues to be a place of great spiritual struggles.  God is working in hearts but some are paying a heavy price.  Family-wise we are doing great and our 3 girls are growing up too fast.  We are thankful for your prayers and know we cannot be here without you.  We know we are not alone.

Ken 7 Judy Hollingsworth   -   Cameroon   - Wycliffe Bible Translators
In Jan. we celebrated our 32nd Anniv. in Cameroon.  We have worked with the Mofu language for 31 yrs. and it is time for us to let them carry on the work.  We are not retiring, but just taking a 'remote assignment' for Cameroon Branch.  This means we will work by e-mail and visit Cameroon.  We will be able to help our aged parents, children and grandchildren after being away so many years.  Plan to leave Cameroon on June 4th.  Within the next few months we need to republish some materials which are depleted before we leave.  Ken is hoping to produce a hymn book with more recent songs.  Please pray for process of finishing up projects and providing support for the ongoing work of translation, supplies, salaries, etc.  We have committed to support the ongoing work of translation for a year with your help.  We shall be making trips to report on what God is doing and has done for the Mofu people.

The regular monthly meeting of the Missions Ministry was opened with prayer and prayer requests on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 12 Noon. OLD BUSINESS included: a discussion regarding distribution of missionary newsletters-missionaries will be given email addresses of church members and friends who are listed on the prayer calendar; if convenient, missionaries will send the newsletters directly to those individuals-those folks not using email will receive copies of the newsletters as they arrive at the church; Jesse Boyd, Full Proof Gospel Ministries, will be contacted for a date of visitation during a Wednesday evening fellowship; the Souper Bowl of Caring received an offering of $676.00 for the Corner Table’s operating expenses-a big THANK YOU to the youth for receiving the offering at both services and for presenting a meaningful skit entitled “The Waitress”, which beautifully demonstrated the New Testament scripture stating that whatever we do for others in love for Christ, we are doing 8unto Christ-and gratitude is extended to the congregation for its continuing generosity in support of the local soup kitchen; a special offering for Haitian relief from the Ministry’s budget will be tabled until the second quarter; applications for support will be sent to the Reeves family and the Johnson family.
NEW BUSINESS: Steve Deitz presented the financial report for Year 2010. Information is being gathered in preparation for a church-wide visitation to JAARS on May 1st, one of the JAARS’ special Saturdays. It is hoped that children, youth, and adults will plan to attend and learn more about the communication wing for the Wycliffe Bible Translators located in Waxhaw. There will be exciting participatory activities for the children, youth, as well as adults. Information and sign up opportunities will begin to be distributed in March. The next scheduled meeting of this ministry will be March 7th at 12 Noon. The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
